Vistana™ Signature Experiences, Inc. an operating business of Interval Leisure Group, Inc. designs, builds, manages and maintains resort properties under the Westin and Sheraton brands, ensuring the highest quality standards.

Our goal is to create authentic guest experiences in all locations by utilizing insights and perspectives from our diverse Associate, supplier and Owner bases. Our success is derived from the differences that make us all unique. Whether it is our life experience, our career journey or our education, it is our respect and value for diversity that keeps us at the forefront of the hospitality industry.

Special thanks to our Engagement Sponsor:

UMU’s interactive platform allows you to engage and interact with participants via their mobile devices and project the responses in real time. In most training environments, there are usually too many participants to give everyone the chance to share their views with the whole group, and the people brave enough to speak up don’t necessarily add the most to the conversation. With UMU, everyone participates, so you can accurately gauge your audience and identify common interest topics.

UMU is a global platform with collaborators from all over the world! Our goal is to bring our improved interacting experience to everyone. We currently have staff and partners in the US, Japan, Ireland, China and Hong Kong. Reach out if you are interested in bringing the benefits of real time visuals and participant engagement to your area!

Are you excited about training games and activities but anxious about losing control, wasting time, and being attacked by participants?

Based on 20 years of field experience and research, Thiagi shares with you three important secrets of effective training facilitation:

Flexible Facilitation. Identify seven critical dimensions of activities-based training (including pace, intensity, competition, and playfulness). Learn how to select, maintain, and balance appropriate levels of these dimensions.

Handling Disruptive Participants. Recognize participants from hell and their disruptive behavior patterns. Learn strategies for discouraging such patterns and specific tactics for handling each pattern.

Debriefing. Identify the importance of the debriefing process for linking the training game or activity to the workplace reality. Learn a powerful six-phase model for maximizing learning from experience.

*Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.

Participate in this workshop and learn about a unique instructional design approach developed and field tested by Thiagi. Learn to use eclectic principles from extreme programming, agile software development, improv theater, creative engineering, and self-organizing complex systems. Stop using your grandfather’s ADDIE model and jump the curve to Thiagi’s continuous, concurrent, creative, co-design approach. Find the wisdom in such provocative ideas as letting the inmates run the asylum and building airplanes while flying them.

    Workshop Content:

Module1. An Experiential Introduction to RRID. Deconstruct a training activity and use the template to immediately design your own activities.

Module 2. Training as Performance Improvement. Select suitable performance improvement interventions to speed up and support training activities.

Module 3. Step by Step? Combine, omit, modify, loop, iterate, and rearrange design steps to achieve agile design.

Module 4. Content, Activities, and Objectives. Use validated templates to rapidly incorporate existing content resources in effective and engaging activities.

Module 5. Changing Roles. Improve your training design by transforming participants into co-facilitators, co-designers, coaches, and evaluators. Also, transform the trainers into facilitators.

Module 6. Evaluation and Continuous Improvement. Integrate six types of valid evaluation techniques with all design steps. Use the evaluation data to prove and improve the training package.

Module 7. E-Learning and Virtual Classrooms. Adapt and apply the 4-Door™ approach to rapidly design e-learning courses and LOLAs (Live Online Learning Activities) to instantly design effective training webinars.

*Lunch, light refreshments and snacks will be provided.
