A Message from Our President

Rosa Espinal, Performance Development Specialist, Vistana Signature Experiences

Welcome to 2018!

Dare to Inform – Defy and Involve – Disrupt and Inspire

My name is Rosa Espinal-Perry, and as the 2018 President, it is my distinct pleasure to build on the great foundation we have in the ATD Central Florida Chapter. Not only have our membership and program numbers grown exponentially since our founding 35 years ago, but we have been consistently recognized by our mothership – the Association for Talent Development (ATD). These accomplishments would not have been possible without the continued service of dedicated volunteers, sponsors, and most importantly you – our members.

For me, leading this outstanding group of volunteers is an honor and a privilege, and I am so excited for what is in store for this year. Over the past 35 years, our chapter has accomplished many amazing things and helped develop the potential of hundreds of learning professionals in the Central Florida community. We have a unique opportunity to continue to shape the future of our profession, and we will continue to work hard to make the most of our resources and partnerships.

We have a very exciting year ahead of us. In 2018, our priority will be to (1) ensure that we keep delivering amazing value to you through our many programs and events, and (2) continue to provide you avenues for community service and supporting talent development in the Central Florida community. That said, I’d like to use a modified quote from President John F. Kennedy to encourage you to give back, “Ask not what only ATDCFL can do you, but ask yourself what you can do to help others through ATDCFL.”

If you’ve found value in membership, I want to embolden you to tell others and to get involved with the chapter. I invite you to visit our chapter website often to learn more about us, and keep an eye out for our new site which is in the works, www.atdcfl.org. This new site will provide you with a better user experience as well as easy access to lots of industry information.

If you have an idea, comment, improvement, or criticism, please contact me personally or any Director and convey your thoughts.  We will listen and respond - that I promise.  If you want to do more, join one of the many committees that need volunteers.  Such committees include Programs, Membership, Engagement, Communications, Technology, and Finance.  If you want to make a difference, reach out to the Director of the committee and let them know you are answering my call or contact me personally.

I want to close with this final message, in 2012, I joined ATDCFL for the resources and events but have stayed and become more deeply involved because of the people like you who are its members and the inspiring leaders who came before me.

Here is my challenge to you:

I DARE you to stop being conventional thinkers and INFORM yourselves of the changes in our industry through our chapter, DEFY traditional methods and entertain new ways of thinking and approaching the needs of your learners as you INVOLVE yourself in chapter activities, and lastly, DISRUPT your routines, collaborate with us to make a difference and INSPIRE others to do the same.

I promise I will strive to serve ATDCFL in the same manner as our Past Presidents and to continue to advance the mission and goals of the Chapter. I look forward to working together with the Board but more importantly for and with you in 2018!

Thank you for your continued support of this chapter. Let's make 2018 amazing for ATD Central Florida!

Yours in learning,

Rosa Espinal-Perry

2018 President
